IPO watch: 2025

Let’s be honest…most of us in startups have had dreams of a monetary windfall when our company makes it to the big leagues and our equity turns into stock. In other words, we want the dolla dolla bills y’all from an IPO 🤑

HOWEVER, the tech startup-to-IPO pipeline has slowed down in the past few years. And that’s a bit of a bummer for investors and tech workers who’ve put in the years with the hope it could pay off in the long-run!

The IPO slowdown in tech has created a “large backlog” of unicorns (valued at >$1B). Historically, unicorn status has signified a milestone toward going public, though not a guarantee.

Will 2025 be a turning point for tech IPOs? Maybe! 🤷 Some companies are making moves to IPO, and their success could be a good litmus test for the rest of the year.

Here’s a list of some of the companies hinting at an IPO in 2025:

  • CoreWeave, a cloud-computing startup, filed initial paperwork for an IPO on Monday

  • The buy now, pay later startup, Klarna, is also working on an IPO listing for this year

  • Popular chat platform Discord announced earlier this week it would explore an IPO

  • Adtech company MNTN also recently filed paperwork

  • And people are speculating that Gong, a revenue intelligence software, may also be on an IPO path after surpassing $300M in annualized revenue

Be honest, have you ever dreamed of getting a big payoff from your equity options?

Let’s dish 🤭

the only canadians i’ve ever seen get mad before now

Canadians are mad, eh?

Have you ever seen an angry Canadian? Yeah, me neither.

Canadians have a reputation for being easy-going and friendly. But America’s northern neighbors have not been jiving with the tariffs coming out of the US.

Here are some of the ways Canadians are saying “we’re not gonna take it” in response to the tariffs:

🍁 Booing the Star-Spangled Banner at sports events

🍁 Enacting matching tariffs on American goods  in retaliation

🍁 Consumers are boycotting American products and buying Canadian instead (even going so far as to remove American whiskey from shelves)

🍁 Refusing to travel to the US for vacation

🍁 Buying more Canadian flags to show their patriotism

Is anyone else feeling like this lately? 🥺

can’t we all just get along?

  • Breakfast at Tiffany’s? A Florida man swallowed a pair of Tiffany earrings worth over half a million dollars after allegedly stealing them

  • DOGE’s $1 limit on government credit cards is making it really hard for employees to do their jobs
